What a fantastic turnout for our monthly Open day at La Serena, 93 players. There are many people to thank for the smooth operation of the event. The organising committee of Camillus, Philip and Terry, excellent job. To the pro-shop with Jose, Karolina, Paul, Jean and Leticia.
To Vanessa, Gloria, the kitchen staff and Fina, thank you. Our head green keeper Wayne and his team for the marvellous condition of the course again superb. To all those who stayed behind to collect their prizes and to those who were there to honour the victors well done and thank you. Our club keeps going from strength to strength.
This was our Captains’ swan song so to speak and on behalf of the Junta I would like to thank Terry Fitzgerald for all his hard work and support throughout the year. Our monthly winners, Golf prizes, Cat I, Pauvla Serakova 38, Denis McCormack 37 and James Woodham 36. Cat II, Catherine Bennett 41, Karen Neal 40, and Alan Perry 39. Crystal week 1, Alan Ewing 40, Chris Daw 38 and and the birthday boy Philip Mountford 37. 70 years young and still collecting prizes. Week 2, William Mackie 43, Sally Hopkins 37 and Steven Hodgett 36. Medal, Cat I Camillus Fitzpatrick 70, Cat II Jim Hayes 70 and Cat III Noel Murray 70. The Terry Fitzgerald Gold medal winner went to a very deserved Pauvla Serakova with 70.
The results of the day were as follows; NTP’s Alan Ewing, Ian Sadler, Pauvla Serakova, Richard Beel, Mike Sephton and Bill Currie. Cat I, Garteh Conroy 37, Terry Fitzgerald 3 and Colin Soones 34. Cat II Chris Daw 38, Roy Ramberg 38 and Anthony Davis 37. Cat III, Gordon Anders 36, Martin Fitzpatrick 35 and Michael Hooke 35. Gross went to Alan Ewing 34, 2nd overall went to Robert Smith 38 and the winner with 39 Kjell Mundheim. Congratulations to all our winners and to all those who played on the day.
For those players who have asked if they can `play in the league next year can you please send me your name and contact details. Mick the Grip will be organising another team to compete in the league. The cost of playing in the league this year was 25 euro green fee on such courses as, Las Colinas, Alenda, Bonalba and the Spanish Open course El Saler.
We have a waiting list in operation for membership at La Serena, however membership of The Celts is always available.
