54 HOLE STABLEFORD COMP RESULTS

Day 1: –

It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to Peter Reffell today! Peter has been a great servant to the Society as Press Secretary, not only will he be missed but he will be a tough act to follow. I very much enjoyed Peters company and he very much helped me settle into the club, I enjoyed our post-match chats.

Good luck Peter and as The President said, “You will always be warmly received at Las Ramblas”.

So, to the Golf!  It was a very tight first round of 3 with Nick Campbell coming home with 38 points followed by Friedel Knebel 37 points and Andrea Martin also with 37 points.

Day 2: –

It was the second round of the 54 Hole Stableford, but the story wasn’t just the golf!

As a Desert Rat myself I was getting concerned that we may find Rommel

on the course!

There was more sand on the greens than in the bunkers! You didn’t know if you should putt or get your sand wedge out!!

Olga Douglas smashed a remarkable 40 points, closely followed by Andrea Martin with 39pts and Paul Brown with 36pts.

The Leaderboard after 36 holes of 54 was as follows: –

  1. Andrea Martin 76 pts
  2. Olga Douglas 74 pts
  3. Paul Brown 72 pts

Day 3: –

The greenkeepers fought back the sand to produce slick greens for the final round! Olga Douglas kept it together to post a round of 36 points and edge past Andrea Martin on countback to lift the cup.

We also welcomed back Richard Connock and he took the daily prize with an emphatic 40 points, with Friedel Knebel runner up with 38 and Olga Douglas 3rd on 36 points.

We see it every week on the TV, and I think it shows how tough it is to keep it going for 3 rounds. Both Olga and Andrea did a great job over the course of the comp this week, under what can only be described as very different conditions on every round. . . . Also, a big well done to “Back 9” Joyce McClusky, for making it an all ladies top 3!!

So the Final Leaderboard was

  2. Andrea Martin 110 pts
  3. Joyce McClusky 102 pts
