Los Nietos Golf Society, based mainly from in and around the old fishing village of Los Nietos, fielded 24 players on their monthly outing .
We went to the course of Signature Golf Alhama , Murcia for the very first time for most of our members.
On arrival we all thought the wind was going to play a major part in the day but by the time it was ready to tee off, it had abated to a light breeze and the sun warmed up for a very pleasant round. With the fairway grass dormant at the moment, the course displayed the characteristics of a classic links course with views of snow-capped mountains in the distance !
The competition for the day was an individual stableford with several prizes on offer .
Overall winner for the day second consecutive time receiving the trophy from Captain Tim Bromage is Phil Harris with 32 points ,handicap of 12 but I can’t see that lasting for long!
In second place , following a count back, on 31 was our Secretary ,Mick Lockley playing off 13 – facing another cut from our handicap secretary Vic Beattie.
There were nearest the pins in one on holes 3, 7, 11, and 17 and the winners were Pat Hurley, Alan Walsh, Steve Butler
The longest drive on hole 13 ad into the wind was Peter Eades . The captain Tim Bromage was winner of the 2nd shot nearest the pin
Following the hour drive back from the course we all met up at Club Nautico to socialise, dine and enjoy much laughter from the fines secretary Peter Crook. Our next outing is at El Valle on 4th April 2018
