With rain lashing down in Denia and the surrounding area, it was a great surprise to find a chilly but dry Oliva Nova on Friday morning.
The rain kept away and 24 members of Montgo GS took part in The Montgo Quaich competition sponsored by Liz and Barry Butler. Although Liz and Barry are still in the UK they sent a message to everyone wishing them a good game and also very generously left prizes for the winners.
Winners of the pairs 4 Ball were Nigel Siddall and Susanne Duner with a nett 69 on countback from Peter Gardiner and James Hayward. Third were George Braddick and Heiko Schram with a nett 70. Peter also won a nearest the pin. The other nearest the pin went to Gerian van Ooijen who also had a 2 and Geoff Willcock took a Montgo ball for another 2.
Next week’s competition is the James Randall Birthday Trophy sponsored by Neil Carter. The Society also hope to be presenting a donation to Javea Cancer Care Nurses raised by the Montgo members after a competition held earlier in October.
