Comebacks were made, records were set and memories were made for a lifetime. The PNC Championship capped off one of the greatest years in TOUR history.
John Daly and his son John Daly II came from behind to set a tournament record 27-under par and take home the championship belts from the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club.
“We both just played great and he played unbelievably yesterday,” John Daly said about his son who is following in his father’s footsteps at the University of Arkansas. The freshman put on a ball-striking display and with help from his dad on the greens they finished two-shots ahead of Team Woods.
Woods described his game as ‘hit and giggle golf’, but there was nothing funny about the display Team Woods put on Sunday in Orlando. Charlie held his own under the pressure and stole the show at the par-3 17th when his brilliant tee shot set up birdie.
This would be the final of the 11 birdies in a row for Team Woods. They chased eagle down the 18th but ultimately came up just short.
However, after the year Tiger Woods has been through, being able to walk down the par 5 on Sunday with his son is one of his greatest achievements of his Hall of Fame career.
