On the morning when we were due to play golf at Oliva Nova, we were treated to a wonderful day of warm sunshine and gentle breezes once again.
We were playing a format of 2 players scoring on 17 holes and all four to score on the last hole the 18th, out of a team of four players.
The competition was played between 34 persons and two guests who were Martin Dunkley and John Seccombe.
The greens were very slow today after the work on them over the last two weeks, but they will soon be in tip top condition.
In the competition, the results were as follows:- 1st Place Michel Grin, Gordon Weston, and Simon Fox with a magnificent score of 93 points. 2nd Place Peter Brown, Tony Jerman, Derek Lindley and Paul Sankey with 83 Points. 3rd Place Terry Moore, Brian Barden and Shaun O’Gorman with 83
Nearest the pin at Hole No 5 with their second shot was Malcolm Wise with 5.9 meters, and at hole 16, nearest the pin was Michel Grin with only 33 cms.
There were three twos two scored today, and they were from Malcolm Wise, Michel Grin and Donna Green..
The Balls in the water competition, was won today by Michel Grin, with exactly 100. Player of the day without a doubt was Michel Grin, so many congratulations Michel.
In the match play, the tie between Celia Cronin, and our Captain David Phillips, and Celia won a very tight game at the final hole.
In the match between Penny Barden and Michael Holloway, Penny won by 4/2, and in the match between Stella Fox and Paul Trigwell, Stella won again for the ladies by 3/2.
Finally in the repeat match between Danny Herron and Steve Patton they finished all square for the second time, and must play a third match.
Next week, we have a Medal competition for the Presidents Cup, so hopefully we may see all the players who missed out today, so should you want to join us at Pego, please contact Penny Barden at pegohandicapsec@gmail.com, and we would love to see you.
