This weeks match saw the Orba Warblers competing for the Bonalba Cup one of our major trophy events, there was a strong field of 30 golfers who braved the increasing temperatures of this warmer weather. There were two guests, Duncan and Tricia Edwards and it was great to welcome back David Evans into the group.
The main event was won by Derek Gray with 36 points helped in no small way by a three on the Parr four 16th providing him with a not inconsiderable lift of 5 stableford points, second place was taken by the ever present Malcolm Monti with 36 points also but unsurprisingly beaten on countback by Derek on the last three holes, Chris Williamson took third place with 35 points and the last three places were also decided on countback as 34 was the popular number on the score cards of Robin Wheatley, Michael Morley and Fred Cooley.
The nearest the pin prizes went to Robin and Fred and there were Warbler balls for Robin, Roy booth, Paddy Kenmore and Chris Williamson.
There were two Match play knock out games played today and advancing to the next round are Arthur Sullivan with Fred Cooley having beaten Michael Morley with Peter Gibson and Steve Cliffe overcame David Brown on the last hole.
Our next game will be a Yellow ball competition at Alenda on Wednesday the 4th July, the first tee will be 10.30 so you need to be there for 09.45 for registration. For more information or to book in contact Michael Taylor 639 242 896.
