On Friday 9th March Montgo Golf Society played an early St Patrick´s Day stableford competition. This is because our sponsor John Feek was due to be out of the country next week so we brought his annual competition forward. However his plans changed and unfortunately he couldn´t be with us this week and so recruited a body double in the form of Patrick Lynch to present the prizes.
Friday was probably the hottest day we´ve had so far this year and by midday many of us found ourselves slightly overdressed for the glorious conditions. The scores however were not quite as high as the temperature with 36 points taking top spot. John provided some lovely trophies giving winners something to take home that would last longer than your usual bottle of plonk.
In first places with 36 points was next week’s sponsor Brian Redfearn. Second and third both had 35 points with John Day just beating Patrick Lynch on count back.
There were four NTPs available, 2 each for boys and girls on the 3rd and 16th holes. The girls on form were Francien Knoops on the 3rd and Denise Cooper on the 16th. Taking home the trophies for the boys were Mick Farmer on 3 and Geoff Willcock on 16. Longest drives went to Russ Peters and Denise Cooper. Finally a special prize for the ´strongest´ player of the day went to Francien Knoops.
Next week we have a stableford competition sponsored by Brian Redfearn.
