With Friday’s forecast not looking too good, 20 players tee’d up to play in the James Randall Trophy sponsored by Neil Carter.
James is Neil’s grandson and is just about to reach the grand old age of 4, hence there were no bottles of wine for prizes but a wonderful selection of sweets, James’s favourite thing.
The heavens did open halfway round the course but soon cleared and almost everyone completed their round. Montgo welcomed back Feli and Brian Baybut, Ruth Strasser, Glen Morgan, Georgie Turner and Robin Thatcher but this week’s winner with 33 points was the old favourite, George Braddick (not so much of the old, I can hear him say). Second with 32 was Ian Bonser on countback from John Day.
32 was a popular score with another 2 players just missing out on the prizes. Nearest the pins went to John Day, Terry Griffiths and Alan Lowans.
There were no 2’s this week. Next week’s competition is kindly sponsored by Ruth Strasser who will be returning to Switzerland soon but hoping to join us again in January.
After prizegiving, Montgo presented a donation of 650 euros to Jayne Laworth of Cancer Care Javea. This was raised by the society in October in memory of friends sadly lost earlier in the year.
