After the cancellation of last week’s competition due to the rain Montgo members were keen to get out on the course again.
We only had 13 players this week, some have returned to the UK and our Competitions Secretary, George was having his first Covid vaccination.
It was good to see the return of Sally and Keith Cottrell. We played a Texas Scramble, sponsored by Caz Welch and Alan Lowans, with the winners Sally Cottrell, Peter Gardiner and Neil Cuming on nett 69, and second were Sue Burman, Geoff Willcock and Brian Stringer with a nett 70.
Nearest the pins went to Keith Cottrell and Geoff Willcock (much to his surprise as he couldn’t have been further from the hole and still on the green). Geoff’s surprise was only surpassed by his team’s 5 on the 18th hole after being in the trees twice, a third shot to the fairway, a long shot to the green and Geoff holing a huge putt.
Let’s hope that excitement continues next week when George Braddick is the sponsor for the St George’s Day Trophy. Red and white colours being the order of the day.
