Friday saw the playing of Montgo’s St Patrick’s Day Medal Trophy competition sponsored by Patrick Lynch who is in the UK at present.

After the torrential rain of the previous day the course held up well but I think the word ‘medal’ didn’t help the scores. 16 members played with the winner Geoff Willcock returning a nett 75.

George Braddick was second with a nett 76 on countback from James Hayward. Andrew Brown took nearest the pin on the 16th but as no one managed to get onto the third green, the prize went to Dirk Knappe in a card draw. Peter Gardiner and Andrew had two’s.

There was also a prize for the best dressed leprechaun. Looking nothing like a leprechaun but dressed entirely in green was Alan Lowans, well done to him for making the effort.

The Trophy was presented by President, John Feek who originally gifted the trophy to the society.

Next week’s competition is the Santana Shield stableford. Peter Gardiner is sponsoring the competition as Steve Crossan, the shields regular sponsor is in the UK at present.
