On 3rd. April 33 members and guests teed it up at Altoreal, to play for our Anniversary Trophy, an individual stableford competition. The trophy is in commemoration of the death of Jose, the founder of the Lo Crispin Tavern, who died suddenly nearly 5 years ago. Once the sun had climbed a little higher in the sky, the temperature rose and conditions for golf were almost perfect.
The scores however, by and large were not very good. There would seem to be no obvious reasons for this as both the greens and the fairways were in good condition. As usual after the game the prizes for the day were distributed at the Tavern, after which we were provided with Tapas by the staff.
In 1st. Place and so the winner of the Anniversary Trophy was one of our Welsh members, Martin Barker with a score of 32 pts. off 16.
2nd. Place – Paul Carter 30 pts. off 27
3rd. Place – Barney Barningham 28 pts. off 23
- T. P. on Par 3s
Hole 5 – Ian Matson
Hole 8 – Rod Pullen
Hole 10 – Darren (Daz) Wilcock
Hole 17 – Harry Wilcock (father of Daz)
It turned out to be a good day for the Wilcock family as Harry was the sole winner of the 2’s pot and son Daz was the winner of the Guest Prize with a score of 34 pts. off 18.
Finally, the Free Game Draw was won by Dean Astley, one of our newer members. Our next game is also an individual stableford competition at Roda on 17th. April.
