This week saw the 12th playing of the Montgo Golf Society Founders Day Cup. The society was formed in 2009 by 5 like minded golfers. John Feek, Norman Howell, Steve Legg, Richard Morris and John Costigan (who sadly passed away in January). Over the past few years, several Founders have moved away or left Spain but the Trophy is still competed for and this year was kindly sponsored by Russ Peters.

Russ is still in the UK but his prizes were really appreciated. The winner with a very good score of 40 points was Alan Lowans, his handicap now down to 22.3 Second with 37 was Caz Welch and third was Sally Cottrell with 35.

There was also a special prize donated by Gordon Gleeson. His birthday was on the 12th and as the society is celebrating 12 years, it only seemed proper for a prize to go to 12th place. The winner was Glenys Cuming. This week also saw the welcome return of Wolfgang Schuster and his wife Edith. They both took the nearest the pin prizes but there were no two’s this week.

Wolfgang is also sponsoring next week’s medal competition.
