He was up by four shots in the final round. Then golf happened and Hudson Swafford found himself tied for the lead after some less-than-stellar play. Swafford could have hung his head and packed it in. Instead, the 33-year-old bounced back late, made a clutch birdie on the 17th hole and a gutsy par putt on the final hole to win the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championchip. “Just hit it solid,” Swafford said when asked what he was thinking on his final putt. “I’ve been putting beautifully all week. I hit a lot of good putts. A couple on the back nine burned the edges. Just hit one last solid putt.” Swafford earned his second win on the PGA TOUR, with the first coming at The American Express in 2017. He also moved up 98 spots in the FedExCup standings and sits at No. 2. This was the first time the event was allotted full FedExCup points, as well as everything that comes with it. Swafford pocketed 500 FedExCup points and is fully exempt through the 2022-23 TOUR season. He also earned spots in the Sentry Tournament of Champions, THE PLAYERS Championship, the 2021 Masters and the PGA Championship.
