Wednesday 16th January, Bonalba Golf Resort
A Medal round at Bonalba drew a larger than expected field for this early in the New Year, but it was another beautiful day weather wise a little chilly at the start but warmed up later. The greens were quite quick and with the contours on some of the greens you could just start the ball and if it did not go in you were facing a longer putt back.
Our division one winner was Michael Taylor with a net score of 73, in second place was John Daniels with a score of 74 and in third was Steve Smith with net 75 and he also carded the lowest gross score. The second division had two spectacular scores on top, Peter Gibson carded a net 66 equivalent to 42 points, he was followed by Rosemary Edwards with a net 68 (40 points), Malcolm Robinson, with net 72, took third place.
Nearest the pin prizes went to Glynn Braidley on the 14th and Steve Smith on the 8th and there were golf balls for Steve Smith and Arthur Sullivan. The final of the Doubles knock-out took place and after eighteen holes they were all square so the match had to be resolved by a putt off where Michael Taylor with Malcolm Monti overcame Mark Gaines with David Edwards, Mark has appeared in both knock-out finals this year and has been runner up in both, disappointing, but a really good achievement nevertheless.
Our next game is at Alicante on Wednesday the 30th January with a first tee time of 10.00 so you need to be there for 09.15 to book in, the Eclectic is at Alicante this year so this will be your chance to set the standard. Guests are always welcome with a current handicap certificate. To enter contact Michael on 639242896 or E mail him and the vice-captain
