Yet another Wednesday meeting at which none of the players broke par which was mainly due to the windy conditions along with inconsistent greens – some fast, some slow.
Font del Llop, near Aspe and not far from Alenda, sits in a valley which helps funnel any prevailing winds down the valley and across the course helping to make some tricky holes even trickier. On the other hand it did help to keep the temperature at a comfortable level as without it, we would have had quite a scorcher.
The big prize of the day was the “Linda Rennie Trophy” for which we compete annually in Linda’s memory and Noel Bannon’s custody of it for the last 12 months transferred to today’s top scorer, Theo Boelhouwer, who shot the day’s top score of 36. Well played, Theo.
The full prize list is as follows:
Best Guest who very nearly cracked 30 points – Martin Perry.
NTP’s – Steve Higgins (Hole 3). Noel Bannon (Hole 8). Charles Jones (Hole 12).
Norman McBride (Hole 16) and Mike Inns (Hole 17).
BRONZE DIVISION – 3rd Ken Flaherty (29 c/b). 2nd Norman Padmore (29 c/b) & 1st Mike Inns (31).
SILVER DIVISION – 3rd Richard Cleary (31 c/b). 2nd Phil de Lacy (31 c/b) & 1st Steve Belshaw (32).

Top scorer & winner of the “Linda Rennie Trophy” – Theo Boelhouwer (36 pts)
ABACUS TROPHY – The accolade, in the form of a fine bottle of wine, for the last runner-up was claimed this week by Ron Stenhouse. Kindly sponsored by Gordon Wilson of G.E. Engineering.
