This week Montgo Golf Society celebrated its annual St George´s Day Trophy, sponsored by George Braddick, who supplied us not only with a plethora of fabulous prizes, but also George´s cross flags for us to adorn our trolleys. Resplendent in red and white, with flags flapping in the breeze, we looked very impressive indeed. Well most of us did with only a few failing to find anything red in their wardrobes. A certain Mr Skinner insisted the rather dark “maroony”, brown top he was wearing was a previously unknown shade of red.
The fabulous conditions led to some fabulous scoring, with two thirds of players achieving 30 points or more. Top dragon slayer was Sally Cottrell, making a grand comeback, with 39 points. Keeping up the girl power Stella Fox takes second spot with 36 points and squeezing into third spot on countback was Shaun O´Gorman with 35 points.
The NTPs went to Michele Grin, 4.80m, on the 3rd and Denise Cooper, 3.58, on the 16th. On the 5th Shaun O´Gorman put his 2nd shot 3.83m from the pin; and Richard Fox put his 2nd shot on the 18th 4.69m from the pin. Three coveted Montgo balls went to Michelle Grin, Shaun O´Gorman and Peter Gardiner.
In addition two Best Dressed prizes were awarded by George to Glenys Cumming and Peter Twine for their divine headwear.
This Wednesday sees the inauguration match for the Intersocieties Challenge. Our team for this match are George Braddick, John Feek, Stella Fox (Captain), Denise Cooper, and Glenys and Neil Cumming.
