On Friday 27th August, Montgo GS played a Magic 3 competition at Oliva Nova. In this format each player is allowed one Mulligan, one Gimme and one Joker (to double their points score on a hole). So there’s an element of gambling in there alongside the golf. And successful gamblers can expect to score high.
Our sponsor for this competition was Keith Cottrell. Keith has been trying to sponsor from way back when but has until today been thwarted on every attempt – weather, virus and travels all sharing responsibility for this. We welcomed Helmut Pertler as a guest for the second time.
Our winner today was Stella Fox, with 42 points even after lipping out on several holes. Second was Shane Fitzsimmons with 40 points. Shane was trying out some new clubs so there could be something there. And in third – you might have guessed – Caz Welch with 38.
Nearest the pin on hole 3 was won by Stella, on 16 by Nigel Siddall, and on 18 – in two shots – by Peter Gardiner. Nigel also collected the only coveted Montgo ball of the day for converting his tee-shot into a birdie 2.
