What is it about weather on Fridays, Montgo members are asking themselves.
The scores for two competitions run side by side this week were affected by chilly strong winds.
Firstly, singles competition winners from the past year played for the Total Care Champion’s Cup medal, sponsored by John and Mary Feek. Fifteen members took part and the winner on countback with great score of nett 71 was Caz Welch, ending a great year for her. Second was Nigel Siddall and with a nett 75 was Gerian van Ooijen.
Eleven other members played in a stableford sponsored by Nigel Siddall. Brian Stringer was the winner with 30 points followed by Keith Cottrell with 29 and our guest Sabina Rossler with 28 points. Nearest the pins went to Terry Griffiths, James Hayward and Susann Budnik. Nigel and Gerian had two’s this week.
Also on the day were presentations for other competitions held during the year. Firstly, the Montgo Order of Merit sponsored by Campbell Lamont. Winners were George Braddick with 355 points, Caz Welch with 300 and Alan Lowans with 236.
The Yearly Eclectic competition sponsored by Ian Bonser was won by Sally Cottrell with a score of nett 66 on countback from Geoff Willcock. Our most improved player of the year was Alan Lowans, dropping his handicap by 3.4 shots.
To round the afternoon off, members and their guests then stayed for a tapas lunch kindly organised by Stella Fox.
Next week’s competition is a stableford sponsored by the society.
