It’s been nearly four years and a lot of frustration since Jordan Spieth’s last win. But also a lot of hard work. It paid off for Spieth on Sunday. In short, he’s back.

The born-and-raised Dallas star earned his first win since 2017 at The Open Championship as he closed it out at the Valero Texas Open for a long-awaited victory after years of struggles.

“This is a monumental win for me,” said Spieth, who shot 6-under 66 in the final round. “It’s been a long road. There were a lot of times that I didn’t know I would be here.”

Spieth, 27, had been trending nicely entering San Antonio, Texas, and he capped it by holding off Charley Hoffman by two shots in front of a small but loyal crowd which was behind Spieth all the way.

Spieth’s 12th PGA TOUR win earned him 500 FedExCup points and he moved up 33 spots to No. 7.
