We welcomed over 50 golfers at La Finca Golf on 7 June 2025 for the 5th Memorial Day in honour of Gary Beck who sadly passed away, far too young, from Covid in 2020.
The sun was shining down on us all teeing off down the beautiful 1st Tee. Gary was truly with us in spirit. The camaraderie and memories were shared throughout the day and evening. The fantastic organisation by Darren Bone, Mick Pryke and their team made sure a fabulous day was had by all.
Danny Cook, who also played, and his team at the Corner Flag made sure that the presentation afterwards was enjoyed to its fullest. Food and drink (lots…) were consumed and the karaoke went on late into the evening. A huge thank you also to Pedro, Sam, the bar staff and all at La Finca for accommodating us. The course was in top condition, with some rather difficult pin positions.
A huge thank you to everybody involved and a healthy €1,000 was raised from donations, auctions and two football cards, earning the winner of each €50. All proceeds will go to The Veteran Hotel, Isle of Wight which is a hub for Veterans, specifically Naval. There was some very good golf and some very bad golf!
There was a plethora of winners but the main prize went to Steve Harding, pictured below with Darren Bone (far left), Steve Harding and his trophy (second left), Kyle Beck (Gary’s son) and Mick Pryke (far right).
