The weather definitely was a blessing on our Wednesday outing to El Valle. However, it did not help the day having to follow a slow playing society. These days it seems to be the norm. The group in front of our society had one player who, after his tee shot, was waiting on every 200m shot in. We didn’t see one shot make it, perhaps any other day!
For most of our group the course was no bed of roses. The three division winners were well in front of the pack. Hopefully Darren, Norman and Ian were not too lonely at the top of the leaderboard. The greens were borderline on average.. A putt like a homebound train would catch a bobble or fade and die at the hole, more like a mystery train. Our group did not see a putt sunk over 2m. Looking at the scores most members found the greens “complicated”. Given the time of year and recent weather no apologies are required.
Despite a slow round, a runaway trolly and generally poor play, everyone seemed to have a nice day.
Our thanks go to all El Valle staff for their contribution to an enjoyable day. Next week we will be at Serena. Keep up to date with all SMGS matters by logging on to our website www.smgs.org
