Twenty two members and one guest played for the Society’s first major of the year, the ‘Claret Jug’ on 6th. March. The sky was overcast and remained so throughout the day. Just as the first group was’ teeing off ‘ the wind started to blow.

The winds seemed to steadily increase throughout the day and undoubtedly blew away most players hopes of achieving a good score! The only good thing about the weather, was that there was no rain.

The Claret Jug was presented to the winner, Eddy Downing, who flew in from Liverpool to take part ( with a score of 27pts. off 16) at the Lo Crispin Tavern after the game, where as usual we were supplied with Tapas from the friendly and helpful staff.

Winner of the Claret Jug – Eddy Downing 27pts off 16 (on count back), 2nd. Place – Dicky Claeys 27 pts. off 8 (on count back), 3rd. Place – Rose Anne Reynaert 27 pts. off 31 (on count back), 4th. Place – Adrian Aspbury 26 pts. off 10

NTP on Par 3s: Hole 3 – Nobody managed to reach or stay on the green, Hole 9 – Meirion Roberts, Hole 15 – Peter Morris, Hole 17 – Ron Perkins

There was just 1 winner of the 2s pot; Meirion Roberts ( one of our mercurial Welsh members).

For those of you who know La Serena, with its abundance of ‘agua’ we usually run a competition to guess the total number of lost balls by all players on the day. The winner was Geoff Dowsett who correctly guessed that 104 balls would be lost. Finally, Paul ‘lucky’ Flanaghan maintained his winning streak, winning the Free Game Raffle.

The Society’s next game is at Font Del Llop on 20th. March. Anyone interested in joining the Society or playing as a guest, should contact any member of the Committee, whose contact details can be found on the Society’s website.
