A slightly overcast but warm day welcomed a full compliment of players to Alicante Golf , for our Texas Scramble event . A few members braved the elements with shorts and were rewarded with the sunshine as the day progressed.
All of our players were resplendent by proudly wearing their poppies in support of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, with many thanks to Mick Reeves for providing poppies and items for prizes for the winners. The teams were all very enthusiastic to achieve the accolade of winning the trophy.
The runners up were Aidan Byrne, Pat Whelan, Roy Harris and Geoff Ettridge with a credible score of 62, but were pipped to the post by the winning team of Garry Garbett, Louvain Smith, Gerard McCabe and Jeff Wiszniewski with a score of 60.1. Only 2 nearest the pins were won out of 4 by Bill Stobo and Garry Garbett even though the gent’s tees were further forward than normal.
Well done to all the winners and many thanks for your continued generosity in support of the Poppy Appeal, the total is still to be confirmed. Thanks also goes to the Sport’s Complex for our after match sustenance.
Our next meeting is at Altorreal on the 22nd November, the first tee time 10:30 am at a cost of 40€. Entry sheet is on the board at the Sports Complex or contact Alan Craig, secretary on a100ac@yahoo.co.uk.
