Stewart Cink was able to ride a hot start to the week all the way to his third win at the RBC Heritage.
Opening with back-to-back 63s, it was a record pace that saw Cink break the 36-hole scoring record and become the oldest player to lead after two rounds in tournament history.
The 47-year-old vet was steady all weekend with his son Reagan on the bag to close out the four-shot victory and join Bryson DeChambeau as the only player with two PGA TOUR wins this season.
The best part? He was able to lift the trophy with his whole family there to celebrate. “It was just so great to have the whole family here. It means so much to me. It’s just a really — a blast this week.
I just can’t explain it,” Cink said with his wife Lisa and other son Connor watching on. Lisa, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 and is in remission, added “It’s just amazing. … I’m just so grateful, and I love them so much.”
With the title at Harbour Town and season-opening win in Napa, Reagan caddied then as well, Cink now sits 3rd in the FedExCup standings poised to keep his resurgence rolling all the way to East Lake.
MIC CHECK
“It doesn’t happen to many people that many times in their career, but to walk down that fairway with a big lead and see that ball come up on dry land here on the 18th fringe with Reagan on the bag, and I knew Connor and Lisa were out there, it’s almost beyond words.” – Stewart Cink on closing out the win with his family in attendance.
