The Golf for Good initiative of the European Tour has raised € 100,000 for four charities in the area at the Estrella Damm NA Andalucía Masters thanks to the eagles and birdies converted into the emblematic 17th hole of the Real Club Valderrama.
Launched in July at the Betfred British Masters hosted by Lee Westwood at Close House, the #GolfForGood initiative continues to be a differentiator of the 2020 Race to Dubai season. To date, more than € 800,000 has been donated to local, national and international charities in the first seven weeks since the season relaunch.
For each birdie on the famous 17th hole, € 500 was donated to the charity fund, to which € 1,500 had to be added for each eagle. In total, 130 birdies and 16 eagles were achieved, and the Spanish Nacho Elvira and the American Johannes Veerman stood out for their contributions by achieving two eagles and one birdie on this hole throughout the four days of the tournament.
After raising € 89,000 with the eagles and birdies scored on the 17th, the European Tour, Estrella Damm, the Junta de Andalucía and the Real Club Valderrama rounded up the donation to reach € 100,000.
