A packed car park at 8 o’clock in the morning gave warning that a tournament was being staged on the 18 hole course, but it would not cause the 9 hole course any problems – would it?
Eight members had completed the first nine holes of a Joker Competition, when one of the course marshals rode up in his buggy and ordered us off the course and we paid-up members were ‘persona non grata.’
We were making strong representations to the reception when our helpful Spanish marshal, David arranged for us to complete the course after about half and hour’s delay.
It did not help two of our number, who were playing an individual competition and had reached hole number 12, when they were ejected and decided to pack in and go home, but not before they had both claimed nearest the pin prizes.
After the delay, the winner of our competition, was Danish member Benny who was fresh from a visit home.
Nearest the pins – Hole 6, Helen Beddows and Hole 9, Brian Coupe.
Second place – Handicap 10, Mike Davies – 35 points.
First place – Handicap.14 – 39 points
If anyone would like to join our Society, we play at El Plantio Golf Club every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. We use both courses – the Par 3 nine hole course and the main 18 hole course, so we cater for all abilities.
The membership rates are very competitive, so call for more details. Anyone who wishes to play in the Society as a guest or join as a new member, contact David Swann on 865 779 983 or 648 476 752.
