On Friday 7th December Montgo GS played a stableford competition, sponsored by Robin Thatcher. In our best British tradition there were many comments regarding the glorious weather here at Oliva Nova as we enter our final month of the year.
Despite a chilly start, a few brave souls still had their legs on show, and they were justified in their choice of attire as the sun blazed down and the temperature soared. As with recent weeks the near perfect conditions failed to elicit a matching increase in scores, as just one player managed to break par.
Simon Fox was our hero of the day scoring 39 points for which he receives a 0.9 cut to his handicap. Second place attracted the attention of our friend the countback, with Roy Jones taking second place and Peter Gardiner taking third, both with 34 points. As Robin had an extra prize John Day also received a bottle of vino for his 32 point fourth place.
There were three NTP prizes awarded today. James Haywood hit 3.2m on the 16th, Shaun O´Gorman hit 2.1m on the 16th. On the 5th hole, NTP in two went to our ever accurate, Sally Cottrell for a very impressive 0.5m. Sally maintained the honours for the girls as she was the only female to feature in this weeks photo.
Jim Haywood was also the only recipient of a coveted Montgo ball this week.
Next week´s competition is our festive Best Christmas outfit stableford competition. Red will be the theme of the day. There may even be a forfeit for anyone not able to demonstrate some form of red attire. The Captain will be giving due consideration to what form this forfeit may take…I´d advise getting your singing muscles warmed up.
