Vistabella -Thursday 29th November 2018
We attended Vistabella golf course at 10.00 am to conduct Alfies Golf Society AGM and all went well with the business conducted on time. We are happy to report we have some new blood on the committee and look forward to a prosperous 2019 season.
We welcome new guests and members to our society and our home is Alfies Bar at La Ronda, Lomas De Cabo Roig where either the bar staff or the notice board will provide you with the society contact details.
24 members from Alfies GS travelled to Vistabella GC for our Committee Cup, and the last round of our Eclectic Cup event on Thursday 29th November 2018. The turnout was good and after the AGM we were all looking forward to the event.
The course was in poor condition as the damage caused by the recent heavy rains had still not been repaired. The overall scoring was very high, but we decided not to play out of the bunkers as they were still in a bad way.
The presentation was held at Alfies Bar La Ronda. Due to a busy society schedule we had to delay our annual charity donation to The Royal British Legion to November, so we invited Mick Reeves aka “Mick the Grip” to receive our donation back at Alfies Bar.
The Blind pairs were won by Tony Hall and our Captain, Ian Ingledew, and both gents donated the money back to the Captain’s charity.
Nearest the pin on the 2nd – Sponsored by ‘Celtic Drop’ went to Shaun Staplehurst
Nearest the pin on the 7th – Sponsored by ‘The Street Restaurant’ went to Rachel Lee
Nearest the pin in 2 shots on the 6th– Sponsored by ‘Alfies Bar’ went to Ove Collin

Gold Division Runner Up was Ian Connell with a score of 35 points, playing off 17.6
Gold Division Winner was Steve Barlow with 42 points, playing off 19.8
Therefore the Winner of the Prestigious Committee Cup was our newly appointed society Match Secretary, Steve Barlow.
The winner of The Eclectic Cup is a closely guarded secret and will be announced at our Gala Christmas Dinner which is held in December.
Many thanks to our 3 main sponsors and our committee for their hard work in the background.
To Liz and Cat at Alfies Bar for their continued support throughout the year, and a big thank you to Sandie Hall for organising the charity raffle and prizes.
Our Captain Ian Ingledew wants to thank all members of Alfies Golf Society who attended the AGM and for their continued patronage.
The next venue will be held at Saurines de la Torre Golf Club on Thursday, 13th December 2018. This will be the last event in the calendar for Alfies Golf Society this year and will finalise the major prizes and will decide the honours for Championship Golfer of the Year, and all the other prizes which will be presented at our Christmas Gala Dinner which this year is being held at the Street Restaurant on the evening of 13th December after the golf competition during the day. All members and guests are welcome to join in the fun.
