This month on the 5th April was our annual Alto Real Trophy competition when we competed for our trophy at the Alto Real golf course, we arrived at the course and were pleasantly greeted by Antonio and his staff who I have to say are keeping the course in very good condition.
After a coffee all twenty-four of us were geared up and ready to try to secure the Trophy the weather conditions were good and higher scores were expected but as is the norm in Spain many of the pins were tucked away behind bunkers making the shot in somewhat difficult, and points harder to obtain.
After the game we returned to our host bar close to the Quesada Arches for our presentation and were treated to sandwiches with sausages by Lisa the proprietor and her staff of the Mini Golf bar, the results of our match were as follows BF9 Rob Ashman with sixteen points BB9 Martin Collins with fifteen points best guest Kjell Svenson with twenty six points who all received a bottle of Rioja.
Our nearest the pins on par threes were won by, on hole five Kenneth Sjoberg the eighth and the tenth were taken by Terry Sharley and John Rush won the seventeenth with a tee shot that was only a couple of inches away from the pin each received sleeves of golf balls, tying in second place with thirty points but losing on count back was Stewart Lee who took home a bottle of Rioja.
Barry Grinsell also with thirty points took second place by count back having a better back nine he received bottles of red and white wine but our winner on the day was Tim Goldsmith with thirty-three points who received a bottle of Bacardi and a copy of our trophy which is a replica of the Claret Jug well done to all of our winners, our soccer card winner this time who selected Oldham was Terry Sharley.
Busters Golf Society is a small friendly group of like minded people who play on the first Friday of the month.
Depending on the time of the year we generally have between sixteen and twenty four players , over the five years since we first formed the society some of our original members have moved on, either returned to their country of origin or have ventured to pastures new, so we are looking for a few more members to swell our ranks.
If you are interested in joining our society ( its free) then please email me Barry Grinsell at bustersgolfsociety@hotmail.com quoting your phone number and current handicap and I will get back to you within a couple of days .
