Wednesday, 28 February 2018 – Alicante
Five and Twenty Warblers made the trip to Alicante Golf Course, having eased our way through the morning fog, we arrived to find the temperature surprisingly mild and the course in good condition but playing tough which resulted in below par scores.
The best score of the day and winner of Division One was Steve Smith with 34 pts. (off 6), making an eagle on the par 5, 4th hole – well done Steve! Second place went to our soon to be new member Sylvia Evans with 33 pts. (off 19) and in third place, on count back, Robin Wheatley with 31 pts. (off 16).
The Second Division was won by Malcolm Robinson with 33 pts. (off 31), with Rosemary Edwards 32 pts. (off 27) in second place and Barbara Pollitt 31 pts. (off 31) in third place.
Two nearest the pins this week: on hole 3 Sylvia Mortensen took the honour, with Arthur Sullivan picking up the prize on hole 12. Sylvia, Arthur and David Knight picked up a prestigious Warbler Ball for their two’s. Arthur made it a triple scoop by taking the football card with Crystal Palace.
Next week, Wednesday 14 March, we are at Oliva Nova for a stableford competition. First tee time at 12.00 noon, please arrive by 11.15 a.m. for registration.
