Paddys Point Golf Society

For the first time in a quite a while we held our monthly outing at Lo Romero Golf and this proved very popular with the members.  The course was in excellent condition and the rain had the decency to allow us a ‘dry’ round, however we did leave a substantial numbers of balls in the water at the 18th.  On our return to the pub we were served up a delicious meal which was very much appreciated by us all, thank you Hazel, Rory and all the staff at Paddy’s Point.

Our numbers were somewhat depleted this month mainly due to the very hot weather but a nice breeze at Vistabella helped keep us cool.  The new holes were a first for many and received nothing but praise.

The entire course was in excellent order and enjoyed by us all despite the score. Back at Paddy’s we partook of some well earned refreshments and appreciated the lovely meal which was laid on by the Pub.  THANK YOU Rory, Hazel and all your hard working staff.

Paddys Point Golf Society as Saurines for ‘Drive-In’.

Thirty eight players set off for the Captain’s Drive-In at Saurines de la Torre but unfortunately one of our members took a scenic route via Murcia and missed his tee time (don’t rely on a Tom Tom ).

Despite his nerves our new Captain Eldon Carey boomed one down the fairway much to his relief. The weather was favourable and the course in good condition which led to an abundance of good scores, out comes the red pen.  Thanks to Rory, Hazel and all at Paddy’s Point for once again looking after us golfers…we again enjoyed a very tasty meal, thank you.

Nearest the Captain’s Drive – Janet Bryan.

NTP – Shaun P Murphy, Kevin Fitzpatrick, Elsie Cowie & Geraldine Geoghegan.

LONG DRIVE – Jimmy Kiernan & Elsie Cowie.  The 2’s pot was shared by John Shannon, Shaun P Murphy, Geraldine Geoghegan & Alan Cuddihy. BEST GUEST Ken Murphy 25pts. 3rd place Shaun P Murphy 38pts, 2nd Pat Foley 38pts c/b and Winner of the Captain’s Drive-in was Joe Adam with a magnificent 40pts.

Our next outing is to RODA on 13th June.

Paddys Point Golf Society

Our Captain’s Day this year saw us celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Paddy’s Point Golf Society. El Valle was the venue and although the course was in good condition the blustery wind destroyed many a scorecard.

Despite this we all had a good day out and an even better evening at our Annual Dinner Presentation at Los Angeles Restaurant Campoamor.  A massive thank to Hazel, Rory and all who helped make this a memorable day.  Again we had many sponsors and thanks to them we able to award many prizes, your continued support is much appreciated.  The staff at Los Angeles also deserve a mention for looking after us so well.

Main prize winners – Best Guest Paul McCormack 29pts.  2nd Lady Myra Coull 32pts 1st Elsie Cowie 34pts. 4th Gent Eldon Carey 31pts 3rd Gerard Moloney 33pts 2nd Gene Duffy 34pts 1st Joey McAvoy 34pts c/b.

On arrival back at Paddy’s a lovely meal awaited us, thank you once again Rory, Hazel and staff.

Please note our December Outing to RODA has been brought forward to the 6th.

Mar Menor was the venue for the 3rd Una Duffy Golf Tournament.  We had a field of 72 golfers (a record) and in spite of flight delays and cancellations all but two of the Irish contingent made it across on time.  It was a beautiful October day and despite some bunker trouble we all enjoyed the course which was in good condition as always.

Thanks also to all our sponsors, your generosity is very much appreciated.

John Aird, Peter Callan, David Miller, Fergal Murray (despite putting with a 3 iron) and Patsy Winters shared the 2’s pot.  5th place Ted Duffy 39pts c/b, 4th Gerard Moloney 39pts c/b, 3rd Philip Gervin 39pts c/b, 2nd Jimmy Kiernan 39pts and Winner Jim Wray 40 pts.
