Friday the 5th April we played for our annual Alto Real Trophy, thirty of us travelled along the AP7 to play for the trophy at Altorreal Golf Club, the weather was good to us, as although it threatened showers we had a reasonably calm day and course was in very good condition.

We returned to the Mini Golf club and were greeted by Rik and his staff for our presentation. Our winners today were BF9 with eighteen points and winning on count back Roger Burton.

Our Best Front nine was won by Brian Ead with nineteen points both players received Rioja wine, our nearest the pins were won by hole five Roger Burton, hole eight was taken by Rob Ashman, Terry Sharley had the tenth with Bill Peters winning the seventeenth hole all players received a sleeve of golf balls.

We had four players sharing our twos pot they were Bill Peters on the eighth Rob Ashman also on the eighth Gilly Gilbert on the fifth along with Roger Burton on the same hole  in third place with thirty four points and winning a bottle of Rioja wine was Bill Peters, second place with forty points and taking home red and white Rioja’s was Barrie Hopkinson, but in first place with forty four points was Stephen Gilly Gilbert who won a bottle of brandy the trophy for a year and a small replica of the trophy to keep.

I would add that the scissors were out as soon as I returned home.

The winners on soccer cards this month were Helen Kinsella who chose West Ham and the second card was won by Derek Degsy Ailes who had selected Celtic.

We are looking forward to our visit to the Seve designed Alicante campo de golf next month.
