Today Montgo G S played for the St Patricks Day Trophy this is sponsored by John & Mary Feek, as is usual for John he put together a great array of prizes and mementos for the winners. Members got into the Irish Spirit by wearing more green than normal.
Our winner today was our Captain Geoff Willcock with 38 points beating Stella Fox into 2nd place on countback with 38 points, 3rd place went Nigel Siddall with 35 points.
We had nearest the pins on the 3rd and 16th for both Men & Ladies, Ros Fletcher and Terry Griffiths won the 3rd and Ilona Mathieu and Brain Baybutt won the 16th. We also had longest drives on the 8th hole for Men & Ladies and these were won Sally Burrowes and Peter Gardiner.
There were 2 twos today Sally Burrowes and Brian Baybutt.

- RUTH WINS OUR FIRST MEDAL OF THE YEAR
Today we played a medal competition which was sponsored by Wolfgang Schuster. It started with our Captain Geoff Willcock driving off on the 10th.
Our winner today on countback was Ruth Strasser with a net score of 72, 2nd place went to Liz Butler with also with a net 72, 3rd was Nigel Siddall with a net 73 beating John Feek into 4th place also with a with a net 73
We had 2 nearest the pins one for the men and the other for the ladies. For the men it was 3rd won by Barry Butler 4.29m and the 11h for the ladies was won by Ruth Strasser 16.5m.
Wolfgang also presented a prize for our strongest player and this went to Heiko Schram
There were 3 twos won by Liz Butler, Sally Burrowes, Mick Farmer & Glen Gardiner
We welcomed 3 guests, Glen Gardiner, Mike Longmire and Caz Welch.

Friday 14th February saw a strong field again playing for the Santana Shield
In lovely sunny weather. There were nearest the pin winners on the 3rd, Ruth Strasser, on the 16th, Russ Peters and in 2 shots on the par 5 14th, Franz Budnik.
Hans Duner and Liz Butler won coveted Montgo balls for twos.
The trophy was won by Simon Fox with 38 points, 2nd Brian Baybut with 37 points and 3rd was Mike Connolly with 34 points.

Today, 7th February, saw a full field of 40 players take part in a bogey competition sponsored by Susanne and Franz Budnik. There were lovely prizes the first of which was won by Terry Griffiths with a score of 3 up. This was Terry’s first game as a new member with Montgo. Second on countback was Roy Jones, and one hole behind in 3rd was Simon Fox.
Jan Jones and Stella Fox were nearest the pins for the ladies. George Braddick commented that Jan’s shot never left the ground but he has been known to tell fibs! Steve Crossan and Peter Gardiner took the men’s prizes in the card draw. Liz Butler had the only 2 of the day.
Montgo also welcomed Sabine Popiol and Michael Longmire as guests today. Next week’s competition is the stableford Santana Shield sponsored by Steve Crossan

Today 31st January Montgo played at Stableford Competition; our sponsor was Denise Cooper. Following storm Gloria 2 weeks ago Oliva Nova was in very good condition.
The prizes on consisted of some of Denise’s homemade Artwork and some tins of biscuits.
Liz Butler won on countback from Richard Fox both having 35 points, 3rd place went to Ilona Mathieu with 34 points. There were 4 nearest the pins on offer today.
On the 5th holes second shot which was won by Hans Duer at 1.98m, on the 11th for the Men it was Barry Butler at 37cms and for the Ladies it was Ilona Mathieu with 7.4m, on the 14th with his 3rd shot it was again Barry Butler with 3.04m. we had no player get on the green on the 16th so a card draw was made and this was won by Ian Bonser. We had 2 twos today and Barry Butler and Mick Farmer both received a coveted Montgo ball.
We welcomed 4 guests today Terry Griffiths, Caz Welch, Jerome and Mimi Van Helvoort. The best guest prize which went to Terry Griffiths with 24 points.

Today 10th January Montgo played a team competition sponsored by Ingrid & Ruth. The weather was very kind to us as the rain only appeared for a few minutes.
Our winners were Ingrid Grossmann, Ruth Strasser, George Braddick and Richard Fox with a total of 117 points, second place went to Dirk Knappe, Nigel Siddall, Roy Jones and Alan Lowans with 105 points.
There were 2 nearest the pins on the 3rd won by Stella Fox with 4.47m and the 16th won by George Braddick with 2.49m. We had no twos today.
Next week we are playing at Alenda our sponsor is Richard Fox. This a change from our normal fixture as Oliva Nova are hosting the re-scheduled Final of the Circuit Seve Ballesteros a 3-day professional event.

Our winner today was Steve Crossan with an excellent 38 points, 2nd place went to Geoff Willcock with 34 points and in 3rd place was Ruth Strasser. Steve also took both nearest the pins at the 3rd and 16th. We had no two’s today.
We welcomed 1 guest Mike Connolly who won a prize for his 33 points.

Today 13th December Montgo Golf Society played a Foursomes competition, our sponsors were Ingrid Grossman and Ruth Strasser.
It was a very windy day at Oliva Nova, this made scoring difficult. Our winners today with 31 points were Nigel Siddall and John Feek, second were Gerian van Ooijen and Arthur Burrowes with 29 points, third place went to Stella Fox and Mick Farmer with 28 points and fourth place was George Braddick and Simon Fox with 26 points.
We had 2 nearest the pins and Arthur triumphed on the 16th with 10.35m however no one managed to hit the 3rd green in 1 shot so that prize went to a card draw won by Sue Burman.
Next week we have our Christmas Competition sponsored by Julia Hall. Those wishing to play should make the effort to dress in the style on Santa. There will a prize for the best Santa.
Friday 29th November Montgo G. S played a Stableford Competition for the St Andrews Day trophy sponsored by Linda & Dennis Coe.
Our winner was Feli Baybut with a fantastic 40 points, second was Arthur Burrowes with 37 points, third was Geoff Wilcock with 35 points and fourth place was Susanne Duner with 34 points. There were 2 nearest the pins and these were won by Geoff Willcock 2nd shot on the 5th @ 2.4m and Simon Fox on the 16th @ 2.9m.
We had 4 twos today and Sue Burman, Mick Farmer, Simon Fox and Andrew Brown each received a coveted Montgo ball. There were 2 card draws won by Jimmy Fletcher and Brian Baybut each receiving a gift from Dennis & Linda. We welcomed 1 guest Wolfgang Glaser.

Today Montgo G. S. played a Medal Competition for the Champions Cup Sponsored by John Feek.
Our winner was John Ross with a Net 71 finally getting a handicap cut, second place went to Tom Atkinson with a Net 72 and third place was won by Glenys Cumming with a Net 75.
We also ran a Stableford competition for those members who did not qualify for the Champions Cup also sponsored by John Feek-
The winner of this competition was Ilona Mathieu with 35 points beating Barry Butler into 2nd place also with 32 points and 3rd was Gerian Van Ooijen with 34 points.
John put prizes up for 4 nearest the pins a longest drive for both Men & Ladies these were competed for by both groups.

We welcomed 3 guests, Dirk Knappe and Brian & Sandra Mortimer, Brian received a sleeve of Montgo Balls for his 2nd shot on the 5th hole.
