Mar Menor 24/4/18

After a very windy night the night before, we made our way to Mar Menor with most of us thinking that we might not be able to play as it was still very windy. Surprise of the day was that there was hardly any wind by the time we teed off, sadly as the round progressed the wind appeared (It seemed that the wind had followed us down the motorway) and to a lot of us this meant the course was hard work but never mind, all enjoyed the day out. It was a good day for one member, Andy Trefry as he cleaned up with 4 prizes.

Results for this individual stapleford outing towards our player of the year:

Gold and overall winner Jonty Searson – 33 points

Runner up Andy Trefry

Silver division winner Roger Clarke 32 points

Runner up on count back Tony Alcock

Best score on the day with 37 points was guest Andy Brown

Nearest the pins on par 3`s was Steve Bramhall, Andy Trefry, Jonty Searson & Peter List

Nearest the pin in 3 on par 5, Andy Trefry

2 `s club shared by Andy Trefry & Andy Brown

Football card winners: John Goulder, Dave Capper & Buck Taylor

Thanks to Steve and his staff at the med bar and bistro for the lovely buffet provided, our next outing is at Font de Llop 15/5/18

The Med Bar Golf Society, El Raso, El Valle 27/2/18

Forecast for this days outing was not very pleasant but all 20 players turned up at the course on time. Many had second thoughts as most of us met up in El Raso before heading down to el Valle.

On the way down on the motorway it started to rain but full of hope we all carried on. On teeing off, the starter stated that at 11.am the rain would come. He was wrong as it started to rain at 11.05, only lightly for a few minutes. By 11.45 it was pouring down but most of us plodded on. It soon eased off and after that we only had intermittent rain but it was getting a bit chilly. The course was in a lovely condition and was enjoyed by all

Results for this outing:

Gold division and overall winner was Alan Gifford with 32 points, Gold division runner up, Jeff Ellis

Silver division winner was Phil Harris with 25 points on count back, Silver division runner up, Buck Taylor

Nearest the pins on par 3 Martin Morgan, Andy Trefry, Jeff Ellis & Phil Harris, Nearest the pin in 2 on par 4 was Jeff Ellis, Nearest the pin in 3 on par 5 was Ray Muttocks

2`s pot was not won and will be carried on to next outing, Football card winners: Eric Owens & Phil Harris

Thanks to Steve and his staff at the med bar and bistro, our next outing is at Font de Llop on 13/3/18
